My Kinda Journey
My name is Umang, I'm a UX Designer, originally from Kenya. I consider myself to be an empathetic, trustworthy, and curious individual who believes in using a thoughtful and creative approach to design for true unmet needs.
In 2019, I received my bachelor's degree in Economics with a focus on Finance. Prior to graduation, I participated in five different internship programs, gaining a diverse range of analytical and technical abilities. My enthusiasm and interests, on the other hand, have always been matched with working in a creative field that would allow me to turn my conceptual ideas into real-life experiences. During my tenure at a Canadian Bank, I participated in a design challenge, in which my team and I worked to create a user-friendly application that would make it easy for Individuals/clients to find it simple to invest their money using this user-friendly app. This piqued my curiosity, and I began my path to becoming a UX designer.
From that point, I chose to broaden my skillset and enrolled part-time in Designlab's UX Bootcamp. Because of my enthusiasm to learn I was able to land an opportunity to shadow and assist a UX Research team while working in my current position. This provided me with extensive knowledge of UX approaches as well as experience working in a UX team In addition, I leveraged what I had already learned at the Bootcamp to lead and deliver an intrasite for one of the Lines of Business in the Bank I was working at.
As a UX designer, I want to put my creative energy and empathetic nature to use by designing products that recognize and deliver the unmet need. Having found the right career path that was born out of passion, I look forward to working in an environment with a lot of opportunities to grow and be a part of a team that creates human-centered products that make an impact.
When I'm not working, you can find me scouting out local cafes, love a good almond croissant 🥐. I'm also an avid and adventurous traveler, having visited over 15 countries and I speak 3 languages. My greatest adventure and success story was summiting Mt.Kilimanjaro ("Mind over body").
